Vibe: You love New York City, but sometimes you wish it was just a little more…. Maverick (the Mel Gibson kind, not the Palin/McCain kind). Well partner, Public House has your birthday party covered. But keep in mind; while a faux cowboy accent and back-story may help with the ladies, cowboy boots are still a bad idea.
Spot: Take in the authentic 45-star flag from 1896 hanging over the 100-foot main bar, but don’t assume you’ll be stepping on peanut shells all night. The beer list is large, and the space is reminiscent of an old saloon, but the energy and clientele is still New York City through and through.
Grub: The menu gives many choices, all of which are fantastic. From the casual (Buttermilk Chicken Tenders and Hot Crab, Artichoke and Spinach Dip) to the refined (Seared Tuna Steak topped with Apple Mustard Chutney), and of course, the carnivorous (Certified Angus Rib Eye), Public House has something for your entire birthday party posse.
The Deal: The Old West may have once been this rowdy, but it was probably not this much fun, and it was definitely never this classy. New York City’s version of the old saloon, Public House is a great place to host a casual birthday party that may or may not get way out of hand (you’re permitted one “yee-haw,” seeing as it’s your birthday and all).
