Vibe: Sometimes those late-night, mood-killing rants about the exploitation of polar bears by soda companies and Al Gore's divorce are unavoidable.  Enter Polar Lounge, a lush space dedicated to a chill, Arctic-modern-minimalist theme and a crowd sexy enough to heat up any party (and keep your rants strictly party-enhancing). 

Spot: Tucked in the basement of Hotel Marcel, Polar features a subtly-decadent palate of silver-stroked brick, banquettes covered in white faux fur, and icicle-inspired chandeliers.  If you're looking to make your party a little more intimate, three Inuit-approved dens are available for private parties up to 12.

Grub: Polar Lounge has a small but robust beer & wine list, premium champagne, and many Arctic-themed cocktails, ranging from the Operation Highjump (Absolut Vodka,  White Grape Juice, Pear Eau de Vie, Frozen Grapes in a Martini Glass) for sake fans to The Terra Nova (Patron Silver, Aztec chocolate bitters, house-made vanilla syrup & Smokey Salt) if you want to mix a little fire with the ice.  Polar also has a creative menu with innovative takes on classic bar fare, such as the chicken wings with lemon, capers & parsley, or the crispy potatoes with fonduta. 

The Deal: A straight-up slick spot that drops the pretension and ups the sex appeal, Polar Lounge is a very cool place to host a party of soon-to-be legend.  The space is a mix or sleek lines, hot décor, and an elegant but rowdy crowd that rivals any Winter Olympics after-party. Plus, you are almost guaranteed never to hear Gucci Mane's "I'm So Icey," as Apollo Ohno has been formally asked to stop requesting it.
