Vibe: Your friends are nothing if not eclectic, so shouldn’t the same be said for where you hold your birthday party? In comes New York City’s Katwalk, a great blend of sports bar, lounge, and club that will leave your whole crew impressed and fashionably tipsy.
Spot: As the namesake implies, Katwalk is located in the fashion district. Not to worry, though: Katwalk has something to offer even your pickiest guests, from the girl who wears heels to the grocery store to the guy reciting everything from Sportscenter to anyone who will listen. Wall-sized projection TVs and flat screens play a combination of the day’s biggest games and MTV-type programming, and there’s an ample dance floor accompanied by New York’s best DJs for that self-proclaimed “perfect Moonwalk” you do around 1 a.m., as well as an L-shaped bar for the wallflowers. There’s even a VIP area called the Kat Lounge if you’re in the mood for a little swank (with free hors’ d’oeuvres and champagne to get the party started). Katwalk also holds theme nights for guys and girls, with “Mobster Night Tuesdays” for the goodfellas (drink specials include Mobtinis and Soprano Shots) and “Sex and the City Wednesdays” for ladies’ night (Cosmos on special, of course).
Grub: Katwalk has all the favorites on their appetizer list, from chicken fingers to spinach artichoke dip. Make sure you save room for the alcohol, though; it’d be a shame to wake up the next morning with a full memory.
The Deal: A solid mix of sports bar, lounge, and dance club, you’ll find everything you and your guests are looking for: big beats from the DJ (and a diverse selection of 80s, 90s, hip hop, rock, and top 40), sports programming juxtaposed with music videos, and great drinks and apps all set in a soft-lit space of mirrors, candles, and upscale plush seating. It’s a great place to see and be seen for your birthday party, even if your sight is a little blurry.
