Hip-hop, Rock and 80's

Vibe: Located downstairs in the recently opened Amalia restaurant (inside the Dream Hotel), D’or is Midtown’s premier spot for private parties.  Recently host to a Gossip Girl cast party, D’or is renowned for its hospitality and creative and generous drinks (apparently Serena was like, hammered, and then B came in with Nate and…. Well, never mind).

Spot: Set in a former carriage house (yes, horses once drank here too), original distressed brick and stone walls give this underground hot spot a cavernous feel, but the crystal chandelier and a “floating” staircase covered in Italian tiles cover up any equine demeanor.  Chocolate-colored leather banquettes seat New York City’s young, wealthy, and, of course, beautiful clientele (the young and rich have to be beautiful to stay that way), and the vibe is generally, fun, flirty, and a bit tipsy, all set to some of New York’s best DJs.

Grub: Thanks to Amalia (the hotel eatery), the full upstairs menu is available at the bar. Choices include an Amalia cheese plate, lamb meatballs, crispy calamari and lobster pizza. Just make sure you choose something with a scent that can be covered up with the never-offensive aroma of vodka.  You owe it to your guests.

The Deal: D’or (literally “of gold” in French) lives up to its namesake.  The service and hospitality for parties is legendary, and the space is a triumph of style and sophistication.  Add in its rep for hosting fantastic DJs and highly attractive customers, and you’re on your way to a party no one’s going to forget anytime soon (or at least you’ll all wish you remembered more).

I live right by The Dream Hotel and was always curious as to what goes on at this place after dark and I was unbelievably surprised that the only thing that goes on is PURE FUN. I loved D'or and I think most people would to, only negative is that it's downstairs and a little basment'esq. I think that it's a great place to throw a birthday or any other sort of event just make sure you get there early because although the doormen are very nice, once the place is at capacity, they have no choice but to turn people away. Fun!

Great Spot
