Vibe:  Your friends aren't exactly black-tie clad, but they're definitely not a bunch of slouchy-and-brooding Taylor Momsens either.  Luckily, Bar 29 finds a better-than-average middle ground that's ideal for an NYC reunion that's no-nonsense and contemporary without being obnoxiously swanky or pretentiously lo-fi.

Spot: Obviously, the party starts and ends at Bar 29's 25-foot bar. Dark wood abounds and well-placed low lighting gives the space a classy yet comfortable atmosphere.  Tons of HD plasmas keep the sports fans content, and the pool table, darts, and jukebox fill in for the rest while you keep your eye on all those artfully-lit liquor bottles behind the bar.

Grub: Bar 29 is open for lunch daily, serving Alidoro's (a New York/SoHo favorite) sandwiches.  For the later crowds, they also offer pizza, tots, mozz sticks, and other bar favorites to soak up some of those libations (basically all the usual edible facilitators of the state of stumbly-but-nowhere-close-to-going-home).

The Deal: A great local hangout, Bar 29 is NYC's perfect party spot when you just wanna throw 'em back with good friends without worrying about how you look doing it (although your t-shirt/blazer combo looks flawless, of course).  And the party doesn't end until 4 a.m. at Bar 29, so be sure to wear your best pre-scuffed staggering shoes.

very cool

I planned a highschool reunion at Bar 29 last Thursday and it was a hit. The bar was perfect for what I was trying to accomplish - affordable drinks at a casual atmosphere. Birthday Party Booker was able to arrange a great open bar deal and some cool drink specials to help people save a few bucks while still having a good time. Towards the end of the night, the group was munching on some pizzas - loved the vibe here. I think Bar 29 is a great spot in New York City for a birthday or a reunion or just any type of gathering!

Local and Awesome

Had my birthday at Bar 29 last Thursday and between the jukebox, cheap drinks and late night pizza that they are cooking up - I was in heaven. We had a fairly large group, around 40 of us and Bar 29 was able to accommodate it easily. It was a great spot for the party because I wanted a bar that was close to my apartment (and most of my friends) but also didn't charge a lot for drinks. Very happy with my decision. It's actually become a late night hangout for me now as well, if the night is over and I don't know where else to go - I hit up Bar 29 for some drinks. Great location. Pumped for this place!

Solid across the board
