Vibe: Aspen Social Club channels the same lodge-like atmosphere of its Flatiron sister establishment (Aspen), with a bit more flair for eye-catching. Midtown’s version of the Colorado getaway for private and birthday parties, Aspen Social Club is a perfect spot to pretend you’re out of New York for just long enough to miss drunken arguments with the homeless.
Spot: This futuristic snowy-white and wood cabin in the forest-themed restaurant/lounge in Vikram Chatwal’s new Stay.Hotel is a true wintry escape to a very badass version of the Rockies (picture Shawn White hosting a party in a ski lodge). The music is loud, the crowd is young and flashy, and the drinks are flowing; premium tequilas are the bar's specialty, including brands like Cabo Wabo and Partida. Or if you’re not in the mood for body shots for whatever reason (it better be a damn good one), try the Biff, a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream topped off with Chivas Regal, a customary tribute to Hunter S. Thompson.
Grub: With a Colorado-inspired menu by chef Adam Ross (Amalia), there are plenty of options to fill up on before the inevitable rounds of tequila begin to put your party into its healthy fog. Try the Colorado Lamb “Lollipops,” or the Tuna Tartare guacamole as a lighter appetizer.
The Deal: If you like Colorado, skiing, snow, the Rockies, mountains in general, or just drinking generously and pretending to like the aforementioned things, Aspen Social Club is a great place to host your party. The menu is sure to have something for everyone, the décor is sure to impress even the most tropical of dispositions, and the crowd is loud and on the prowl. Let the tequila do the rest, and as Lil’ Wayne would say, go pop ‘em like Orville Redenbacher.
